On Monday February 21st, Guardian Angels Records will release an exclusive digital Deluxe Edition of Sandi Thom's No.1 best-selling iTunes blues rock infused album Merchant and Thieves. The album will be available to download from iTunes and other leading digital retailers.

Sandi's version of House of the Rising Sun was recently the No.1 digital download single on iTunes' UK blues chart for several weeks.

The Deluxe Edition of Merchant and Thieves also features the previously unreleased promo video for the third single, Gold Dust, taken from the Merchants and Thieves album.

The video was shot and directed by an Irish director, Laura McGann, during the summer of 2010 in Liverpool on various locations including the club Alma de Cuba and Formby beach where Sandi frequented to write songs for the Merchants and Thieves album.

The video sees Sandi experience different emotions including regret, anger, hurt, and revenge, to the point where Sandi eventually drowns her sorrows in alcohol, breaks down and cries.

"Gold Dust is about the demise of a past relationship of mine," reflects Sandi. "All of the places where we filmed the video were old haunts of mine and my ex's."

FARIDA UNVEILS OFFICIAL SANDI THOM SIGNATURE GUITAR

When Sandi originally released Merchants and Thieves in 2010, her gradual shift from pop music to grassroots blues attracted the attention of the global guitar brand 'Farida'.

Impressed with her authentic blues guitar recording and performances, Farida asked Sandi if she would like to endorse a new acoustic guitar they were developing.

When Farida originally approached Sandi, they were in the final stages of engineering a ground breaking new electro acoustic model. Once Sandi was officially on board, she worked closely on the final development stages of the guitar.

The official Sandi Thom signature model, the Farida SF-55ce, was premiered at the Frankfurt Musikmesse in January 2011. "I've never seen anything quite like it before" says Sandi. "I think it's an elegant looking guitar with a lot of individual features."

Conceptualised with a stunning design concept, the SF-55ce is one of the very few signature acoustic guitars associated with a female guitar player.

Farida's acoustic guitar range also includes the more affordable SF-12ce, available in white and Sunburst finishes. Both guitars are designed with player comfort and easy playability which ultimately gives them broad appeal.

"The guitar is extremely versatile and could be great for a beginner or a professional guitar player" says Sandi. "The slim neck and body also means it's suitable for kids."

Sandi Thom - Official Biography

At 17, Sandi Thom became the youngest ever student to be accepted to the prestigious Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts aka LIPA, dubbed 'The Fame Academy' due to the number of industry professionals teaching there and having Sir Paul McCartney as its patron.

It was here that she met her band and producers.

In 2003, Sandi Thom graduated from LIPA with a BA (Hons) in Performing Arts and is the first and only LIPA Graduate to have a number one music album in the charts.

Blues/Rock and roots singer songwriter Sandi Thom's infamous debut single "I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker" topped the charts in 7 countries with the ensuing album shifting over a million copies worldwide, winning her an Ivor Novello award. She currently holds the record in Australia for 12 consecutive weeks at the top of the charts.

RCA Records released "I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker" in 2006, supplanting Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy". Thom's debut LP, "Smile... It Confuses People" quickly hit the top spot on the UK albums charts as well. Her second album, "The Pink and the Lily", followed in 2008.

Fresh from a two year stint on the road appearing at festivals such as Fuji Rock in Japan and headlining V Festival Sandi toured the UK & Europe with Blues Powerhouse Joe Bonamassa, opening for the likes of B.B. King and Steve Winwood, inspiring her to explore deeper and more organic musical roots with her next record.

2010 marked her return to the studio with the hotly tipped "Merchants & Thieves", released on the 17th May highlighting her tremendous versatility as one of today's finest female musicians.

"The most striking re-invention you are likely to witness this year."
News of the World

"Perfect in every way, Sandi Thom's debut as a blues
songstress sets her future career in Gold." -
Maverick

"An album of Americana-tinged blues with a commanding vocal performance,
a live band feel, toneful, tasteful guitars - all topped off with a
guest appearance from no less than Joe Bonamassa."
Guitarist Magazine

The critically acclaimed ‘Merchants And Thieves topped the UK iTunes Blues Chart and No.5 in the respective U.S. Chart. The album showcased a new sound from Sandi, bringing light to her passion for the blues. Here, Thom makes a complete volte-face from the bubblegum pop of her major label days, reinventing herself as a blues shouter replete with authentic American accent, twanging guitars, rebellious and melancholy songwriting and even a cameo from blues guitar legend Joe Bonamassa.
