Vision Films will release "Sam" - the gender-bending romantic comedy directed by Nicholas Brooks & Executive Produced by his father Mel Brooks - to DVD & VOD on October 11th2016, with special theatrical events in New York and Los Angeles.

Nicholas Brooks' debut feature, "Sam" is the story of a quintessential New York City alpha male who must learn how to be 'Samantha' when he is suddenly transformed into a beautiful woman, starring Natalie Knepp ("Orange is the New Black"), Sean Kleier ("Odd Mom Out"), Stacy Keach("American History X"), Brock Harris ("Major Crimes") Morgan Fairchild ("Chuck"), Bryan Batt("Mad Men"), James McCaffrey ("Rescue Me") and Sarah Scott ("Soaked in Bleach").

"Sam" is a romantic comedy with a twist. It's a story of love and friendship, and what happens when the two collide in the weirdest way possible. It follows THE JOURNEY of Sam Wellman (Brock Harris), an alpha male and woman hater, and his relationship with Doc (Sean Kleier), his best and only friend. The morning after one very strange night, Sam awakens to find himself transformed into a woman. The wheel of Karma turns, and Sam - now Samantha (Natalie Knepp) - finds herself the object of her lascivious boss's unwanted affections, whilst her friendship with Doc changes completely.

Nicholas Brooks says: "Writing, producing and directing "Sam" has been an incredible experience thanks to an amazing cast and crew. I am excited to finally be sharing her with the world. Working with my dad on my first feature has been a fantastic experience - he is a continuously supportive, caring and wonderful executive producer."

Brock Harris, who plays Sam Wellman in the film adds: "Sam is a unique story about a man who, instead of getting in touch with his feminine side, is actually BECOMING his feminine side. It's a style of romantic comedy that we haven't seen before, but one that we are definitely ready for."

Lead produced by Sibyl Santiago, the screenplay is by Nicholas Brooks and John A. Gallagher. Nicholas Brooks has worked for 25-years as a story editor for his fathers production company Brooksfilms, and his directorial debut, "Sam," is his sixth screenplay to date.

Sibyl Santiago says: "As soon as I saw the script I fell in love with it and knew that I wanted to be a part of it. It is a very special movie with a lot of heart."

Managing Director/ CEO of Vision Films, Lise Romanoff says: "We couldn't be more pleased to be partnering with this legendary Brooks duo on Nicholas's directorial debut. His talents shine in this film, giving us a twist to remember. "Sam" will resonate with both men and women and make everyone smile."
