New Voice Collective and NYU Steinhardt School, program in vocal performance, present NEW VOICES AT NYU: A Celebration of Songs by NYU Musical Theatre Writers Past and Present Monday, April 16 at 8:00 PM Frederick Loewe Theatre 35 WEST 4TH STREET. The concert will explore work by current composers in the NYU Musical Theatre writing program, as well as work by some of NYU's most exciting and famous alumni. Bringing these works to life, an amazing cast of Broadway's finest voices will include Tony-nominated Rebecca Luker (Mary Poppins, Nine, Music Man, Sound of Music) and Rory O'Malley (Book of Mormon, Spelling Bee), Elizabeth A. Davis (Once, The 39 Steps), Drew Gehling (On a Clear Day..., The Minister's Wife, Jersey Boys), Kate Shindle (Wonderland, Legally Blonde, Cabaret), Sally Wilfert (Make Me A Song, Spelling Bee, Assassins), and Michael Winther (Mamma Mia, Songs from an Unmade Bed).

Continuing the New Voices mission to support musical theatre writers and their work, NVC presents a collection of songs by a prolific set of NYU composers and lyricists, from emerging talents to those shaping today's Broadway landscape. The concert will feature works by Gaby Alter, Will Aronson, Ben Bonnema, Ben Cohn & Sean McDaniel, Joey Contreras, Julianne Wick Davis, Jeremy Desmon, Vadim Feichtner, Caleb Hoyer, Jenny Giering, Dylan Glatthorn, Kait Kerrigan, Brian Lowdermilk, Brendan Milburn & Valerie Vigoda, Chris Miller, Peter Mills, Matt Sklar, Christopher Staskel, Georgia Stitt, Nathan Tysen and Sam Willmott. The evening will be hosted by New Voices' favorite Danny Burstein (soon to reprise his role as Buddy Plummer at the Ahmanson Theatre in Follies) and is directed by Annette Jolles. The singers will be accompanied by the Director of Collaborative Piano at NYU, Grant Wenaus, with Stephen Benson on guitar, Yuiko Kamakari on violin, Ed Matthew on clarinet, and Clay Ruede on cello.

Tickets, priced at $20 ($5 with a Student I.D.), are available in advance online (www.nyu.edu/ticketcentral/calendar), by phone (212-352-3101), or in person at NYU Ticket Central (566 LaGuardia Place at Washington Square South). Tickets will also be available at the door one hour prior to the performance.

Since its inception in January 2003, the New Voices Collective (founded by Joel Fram, Doug Okerson, and Jen Bender) has been dedicated to nurturing young composers in the creation of new works, as well as encouraging established composers to find their “new voice” by experimenting with different musical genres. The New Voices series was created to give working composers a chance to hear new work premiered by some of Broadway's finest singers, in an intimate, casual setting. A chance for emerging writers to present their work with the highest quality talent, New Voices also provides a safe space for more established composers - Broadway and otherwise - to step 'out of the box' and explore their own unique challenges, writing instrumental music, creating art songs, or writing theatre songs with new collaborators. In five seasons, New Voices has presented 20 concerts, premiering over 250 songs and featuring the work of 100+ artists, and was a proud recipient of a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts.
