Rihanna Lands First #1 Album on Billboard 200

For the first time in her career, songstress Rihanna has scored a number one hit on the Billboard Top 200 Charts.

"Unapologetic," her seventh album, debuted in the top spot with 238,000 records sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. All of her other albums, since she began her career in 2005, have opened in the top ten.

With Rihanna's big debut, One Direction's "Take Me Home," which opened last week at number one, was bumped to the third spot with 176,000. Taylor Swift, whose latest record "Red" holds many broken records to its name, remained in the second position with 185,000 units sold.

AMERICAN IDOL winner Phillip Phillip's debut album was released during the Thanksgiving week as well, and opened at number four 169,000 records sold.

"Rebel Soul," Kid Rock's newest album, rounds out the top five this week, selling 146,000. 

Rihanna – the "#1 Person On Facebook" with over 62 million Likes – has sold over 37 million albums and 146 million digital tracks worldwide, and currently holds the record as the top-selling digital artist of all time. The recipient of six Grammy Awards® and seven Billboard Music Awards, she was named the world's #1 social media star by Forbes, with over 2.9 billion views on YouTube/VEVO, the most ever for any female artist, and over 26 million Twitter followers. In addition to her 11 Hot 100 #1 singles and [now] 23 Top 10 singles, she also has 18 #1 singles on the Billboard Dance Club Song Charts.
