Audiences will take a trip back to the 1980's with Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Richard Marx, who ruled the pop charts with nineteen Top 20 singles and seven #1 hits. Marx is back by popular demand and better than ever, and ready to fire up his fans - and win over some new ones - when he performs under the stars at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre in Orem Thursday Aug. 29 at 8:00 p.m.

Marx will perform his huge hits including "Right Here Waiting," "Now and Forever," his debut single "Don't Mean Nothin'," as well as "Endless Summer Nights," "Hazard," ""Shoulda Known Better," "Hold on to the Nights," "Angelia," "Satisfied" and "The Way She Loves Me."

The outdoor concert will begin at 8 p.m. at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre, located in the middle of Orem's SCERA Park, 699 S. State St. General admission tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children (age 3-11), seniors (65+) and students (w/ID). Patrons may bring a blanket or rent a first-come first-serve chair for $1.00. Tickets are available from 10am-6pm weekdays and Saturdays from 12Noon-6pm at the SCERA Center for the Arts, 745 S. State St., Orem, by calling (801) 225-ARTS, online at www.scera.org or at the gate beginning 90 minutes prior to the concert.

Opening Marx' concert will be the six finalists from SCERA's summer-long Celebrity! vocal competition. The finalists were narrowed down by judges from an original group of 60 singers. A youth and adult winner will be announced at the Marx concert and be crowned SCERA Celebrity 2013 and start a year of performing opportunities throughout the state.

When Marx hit the music scene in the late 1980s, he immediately got his name in the record books as the first solo artist to have his first seven singles hit the top five on the U.S. charts. He records have done exceptionally well with more than 30 million sold, and in 2004 he received a Grammy Award with Luther Vandross for the Marx-penned "Dance With My Father."

He has also had an exceptional behind-the-scenes career as a producer and songwriter. His clients are diverse and celebrated and include 'N Sync, Barbra Streisand, Josh Groban, Vince Gill, Chris Belli, Keith Urban, Hugh Jackman and Shedaisy. It's a career that began as a five-year-old singing jingles and he continues as a major force in the music industry.

"We always try to offer our patrons a wide variety of music genres, and this summer we've got just about every decade covered. 80's music is very popular right now, and you can't get a better representative than Richard Marx," says Adam Robertson, SCERA President and CEO.
