Pop to Premiere Second Season of Docu-Series SING IT ON, Today

Capturing the heart and soul of collegiate a cappella and what it takes to win the ICCA competition, Pop has teamed up with executive producers John Legend's Get Lifted Film Co., Sharp Entertainment and CORE Media Group, to bring television viewers a second season of SING IT ON premiering on Wednesday, July 27 at 9:00 PM, ET/PT. SING IT ON will find its regular time slot with new episodes every week on Wednesdays at 8:00 PM, ET/PT beginning August 3.

"The excitement surrounding collegiate a cappella is close to my heart as it was the start of my career as a recording artist, and I know first-hand the dedication and teamwork it takes to be successful," said John Legend, SING IT ON Executive Producer and a former member of UPenn's Counterparts, which made it to the ICCA Finals in 1997. "Pop's SING IT ON strikes all the right chords by capturing the heat of competition, passionate musical performances and the enduring friendships found in the a cappella community."

The eight-episode docu-series SING IT ON showcases the real-life stories of four wickedly talented and highly charismatic collegiate a cappella teams - Faux Paz (University of Maryland), Off The Beat (University of Pennsylvania), Hexachords (University of Massachusetts Amherst), and S#arp Attitude (University of Massachusetts Amherst). This season brings heart-warming stories and breath-taking musical performances from two sets of rival a cappella teams - including two opposing groups from the same school, University of Massachusetts, and two top contenders in same region, University of Maryland and University of Pennsylvania. Each team faces cutthroat auditions, power struggles amongst seasoned members and endless hours of training for competition, along with the powerful bonds and friendships created in this tight inner-circle community of performers.

"SING IT ON returns this summer with new a cappella groups that will touch viewers with their personal stories and entertain with their powerful performances and music talent," said Paul Adler, SVP of Original Programming and Development, Pop. "The competitive STAKES this season are even higher as rival teams compete head-to-head against each other in a battle to advance to the ICCA Finals."

In season two of SING IT ON, viewers will get to know these four teams:

Faux Paz, a co-ed group from the University of Maryland, have been wowing audiences since their inception in 1993. The group's star soloist has suffered a significant loss in her family but is able to grieve through the power of music and the support of her group. She also happens to be the only remaining female vocalist, so the group is tasked with a tedious audition process to find a diverse enough sound that will take them all the way to finals.

Off The Beat from the University of Pennsylvania are a group of co-ed Ivy Leaguers that share an alma mater with former a cappella singer John Legend. This season, the group is feeling the effects of a volatile relationship between the music director and co-president. This team is used to winning big in academics and in a cappella. They expect to make it all the way to ICCA Finals this season despite the rift between their leaders.

University of Massachusetts Amherst's Hexachords are a small but strong group of six co-ed members. Though the group consists entirely of highly trained music majors, they still feel the pressure of competing against groups that are often double their size with double the sound.

S#arp Attitude, a powerful all-female group from University of Massachusetts Amherst, have high hopes for the ICCA season despite never making it past quarterfinals. Their major set-back this season is losing their only beatboxer to their rival group Hexachords. This sassy group of girl bosses plan to seek revenge by showing Hexachords up in competition.

SING IT ON is produced by Sharp Entertainment and CORE Media Group, with Matt Sharp, Teri Wagner Flynn and Kallissa Miller serving as Executive Producers. ICCA owner Amanda Newman serves as Co-Executive Producer. John Legend, Ty Stiklorius and Mike Jackson of Get Lifted Film Co. also serve as Executive Producers.
