Pittance Chamber Music announces 2016/17 season with three unique concerts featuring members of the Grammy Award-winning Los Angeles Opera Orchestra: October 9, 2016, 3pm at the Eva and Marc Stern Grand Hall in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion; February 3, 2017, 8pm at Zipper Hall, The Colburn School; and March 26, 2017, 3pm, returning to the Eva and Marc Stern Grand Hall. Special guests include Domingo Colburn Stein Young Artists Summer Hassan, soprano and Theo Hoffman, baritone, and Los Angeles Opera Richard Seaver Music Director, conductor James Conlon.

Pittance Chamber Music was created in 2013 with the idea of raising up the extraordinary yet invisible artists from the pit of the Los Angeles Opera to the stage to perform in small ensembles, hence the name Pittance. Since 2013 the ranks of Pittance have been expanded to include members of the Los Angeles Opera Chorus and the Domingo Colburn Stein Young Artists.

Lisa Sutton, Pittance Chamber Music founder and Artistic Director, is also the Assistant Concertmaster of the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra. Says Sutton, "We hope to personalize opera by creating a more intimate view of the resident artists who are the heart and soul of the Los Angeles Opera company. We have all worked together for many years and we are like family - it's a natural fit, and a lot of fun. The concerts tend to be informal and user-friendly. Our host, actor Miguel Perez, engages the crowd with brief historical notes and anecdotes, steering clear of deadly 'music theory' rhetoric. Also, our audiences love the variety of repertoire, which is the benefit of having a full orchestra as well as vocalists in our talent pool."

Tickets for an individual concert: $35; $20 for seniors; $10 for students with valid ID. A Season Subscription to attend all three concerts is $90; $50 for seniors; and $25 for students. Tickets are available online at PittanceChamberMusic.org, or at the venue on the night of the concert, if tickets remain.
