Oliver Mtukudzi & The Black Spirits bring merry music from the heart of Africa to the WHBPAC on Sunday, March 9 at 8:00 p.m. With notoriety akin to world music greats like Hugh Masekela and Angelique Kidjo, this Afropop Hall of Famer's organic mix of traditional ways, pan-African influences, and cosmopolitan pop has become widely known as "Tuku Music." Touring with The Black Spirits in support of his newest release, Sarawoga, "Tuku's" heart-rending roots music is sure to draw you into greater thoughtfulness. All tickets are $25.

As part of the WHBPAC's Breakout Artist Series in partnership with WEHM 92.9 & 96.9FM, young singer/songwriter Max Gomez, performs on Saturday, March 9 at 8:00 p.m. Seasoned in the vein of Jackson Browne and John Prine, this emerging artist's effortless croon, flourishing arrangements, and intriguing lyrics convey wisdom beyond his years. His debut album, Rule the World, has been lauded by press ranging from USA Today to Esquire. Take a dusty ride through the landscapes he has traveled and catch a glimpse of a soul bared. All tickets are $20.

Modern string band, the Carolina Chocolate Drops, perform on Thursday, April 3 at 8:00 p.m. Get ready to clap your hands to some good ole fashioned floor-stomping folk music! Mixing hip-hop with fiddles and banjos, the cello, jugs, kazoos, and clacking bones, this GRAMMY-winning roots band breathes new life into many old-time mountain jigs. Join us as we explore this electrifying acoustic quartet's living, breathing, ever-evolving body of work. Tickets are $35 - $40.
