Music by the Sea presents sensational folk night with two acts, The Poachers and Cole and Van Dijk. Both acts are much loved in the Brisbane folk scene. All these seasoned artists will undoubtedly deliver an unforgettable evening in the Sandgate Town Hall on November 3rd, 2012, at 7:30 p.m.

Brisbane-based vocal/guitar/fiddle trio, The Poachers (Andrew Heath, Cathy Bell and Penny Boys) formed in 1998 and had great success on the Australian festival circuit, playing supports for folk greats Altan, Tony McManus and the Fureys, and releasing a critically-acclaimed CD in 2000 which received national airplay on the ABC. Now, after an 8-year break living on different continents, they are back together, singing and playing an eclectic mix of traditional English, Irish, American and Australian folk music and original songs, with recent appearances at Woodford, the National, Maldon, and Neurum Creek Festivals, and a new CD "Back in the Woods” released in April 2012.

'Cole and Van Dijk' - have inhabited the fringes of the trad folk scene in SEQ for over 20 years both as performers in various groups - One Straw, Twig, Ragged, CKVD, Fox Lane and The Charlie Moorland Trio.

Jevan Cole (guitar) and Jan Van Dijk (fiddle) play together with an intimate ease and connectedness. Their clear understanding of each other's musical personality allows them to play within and around melodies; creating unexpected harmonies and diversions.

Tickets are $18/$14 conc. If you buy your ticket online, you will have a chance to win the latest CD by The Poachers - BACK IN THE WOODS. Book tickets HERE.
