Mindy Smith, a Nashville-based, Long Island native singer-songwriter, will kick off the first leg of her "Closer" tour on July 1 at 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville. Touring in support of her self-titled fifth album out June 26 on Giant Leap/TVX Records, the 20-city tour includes stops in Birmingham, Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, Minneapolis and Knoxville, among others. Full list of tour dates are below.

Currently available at a special pre-sale price at iTunes (http://bit.ly/KN9vfa), Mindy Smith direct-to-fan bundles are also available for pre-order at www.mindysmithmusic.com. The bundles include autograph CD; the autograph package, which features a signed copy of the CD and an 11"x17" tour poster on premium canvas-style paper; and the fine art package, which features limited edition Giclee of one of Mindy's original paintings (only 25 reproductions of each painting), signed 11"x17" tour poster and CD.

"I spent the last several years trying to get my bearings and investing in myself," says Smith, "I think unless you're willing to do that, it's going to be very difficult to convince other people that they should invest in what you're doing. I stepped back and regained control of the things that I could, which were publishing-the current songs that I'm writing I own my publishing on-as well as masters and recordings. People don't realize that unless you own those masters, you really don't own anything. You get to own your personality, I suppose, but that doesn't pay the bills necessarily."

Offering 11 original compositions-seven of which Smith wrote with the remaining four as co-writes with Daniel Tashian, Kate York, Tami Hinesh and Lori McKenna-the album was co-produced with Jason Lehning and recorded at Sound Emporium Studio in Nashville with Bryan Sutton (guitar), Lex Price (bass), Ian Fitchuk (drums), Joe Pisapia (guitar), Jason Lehning (guitar) and Dan Dugmore (pedal steel).

Prior to the release of her 2004 debut, the New York native charmed fans with her rendition of Dolly Parton's "Jolene" for the much-praised Dolly Parton tribute album Just Because I'm a Woman. Her Vanguard Records debut album, One Moment More, earned numerous accolades, featured the hit single "Come to Jesus" and sold over 300,000 copies. She subsequently released Long Island Shores(Vanguard, 2006), My Holiday (Vanguard, 2007) and Stupid Love (Vanguard, 2009). In August 2011, Mindy and longtime friend Daniel Tashian recorded "Taking You With Me," a duet featured in the film and soundtrack for Paul Rudd's film Our Idiot Brother.
