Mikaela Davis burst onto the scene following her amazing cover of Sufjan Stevens' Casimir Pulaski day, which has received over 130,000 hits on YouTube, as well her hugely popular cover of Elliott Smith's Twilight. On October 12, the fast-rising musician will perform at the Capitol Center's Spotlight Café as part of the "On the Edge" series.

Mikaela Davis latest EP, Fortune Teller, has been described as "harp and voice with an eclectic instrument mix whipped into a melancholy lo-fi sound; an intricate balance of fluttering vocal folds and fingers on strings that blend effortlessly," by Red Booth owner/engineer Brian Moore. Since the EP's release, Mikaela has showcased at SXSW and toured the East Coast and Midwest with bandmates Alex Coté (drums and percussion) and Cian McCarthy (guitar, sitar, and keys). Refinery 29 describes Mikaela's style as "virtuosic playing with singer-songwriter chops." Her musical inspirations range from psychedelic rock to classical and jazz and, to date, she has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Indie Rock artists My Brightest Diamond, Jukebox the Ghost, Filligar, and Indians.

Previously, Mikaela was a harpist in the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra from 2006-2010 and was a concerto competition winner in 2010. She graduated the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, studying Harp Performance under Dr. Jessica Suchy-Pilalis, in 2014. In addition, she won first place in the 2012 Crane Concerto Competition, performed as a soloist with the Crane Symphony Orchestra in April 2013, and was the winner of the Charlie Coté Music Award in 2010 for her own compositions which display her seemingly effortless and amazing ability to incorporate a more modern expression of a classical instrument.
