MTV Names Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe' Best Song of 2012

Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe' has been named Best Song of 2012 by MTV. The worldwide hit reached number one in both the UK and the United States and to date has sold over 6 million copies in America alone. 

Upon hearing the news, Jepsen told MTV, "First of all, wow, thank you so much! I have to thank the two other writers of 'Call Me Maybe', Josh Ramsay and Tavish Crowe."

She continued, "When we worked on the song together, we were not expecting this year to turn out to be the crazy adventure that it is. Thank you to the fans, my team, my family and MTV - thanks to you!"

In second place on the list was the group fun. whose single 'We Are Young' became an anthem for a generation. Gotye's 'Somebody That I Used To Know' was named number three. 

UK boy band One Direction placed fourth with their debut hit 'What Makes You Beautiful', while fellow Brits 'The Wanted' came in at number nine with 'Glad You Came'.
