Los Tigres del Norte, the most influential regional Mexican group, will receive the first ever Leader Billboard award. The recognition for their leadership role and social activism will take place at the 2013 Billboard Mexican Music Awards set to broadcast live on Wednesday, October 9 at 7pm/6c from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.

Eduardo Hernandez, along with cousin Oscar Lara, have not only distinguished themselves for their music, but also for their commitment to tackle the issues that impact their fans through their legendary corridos, from immigration reform, to drug trafficking, to politics. They have defended causes and people through both their music and actions, becoming a public voice for immigration reform, including a march and concert planned in Washington, D.C.
