Composer Tania León, a 2012 Grammy award nominee and a CUNY distinguished professor at Brooklyn College, will host experimental performance artist Laurie Anderson at the "Innovative Women in Music," a concert showcase, brunch, and discussion panel about women composers this Sunday, February 22 at the Cutting Room, on 44 East 32nd St., New York at 11:30 a.m. The event, which is part of the Composers Now yearly festival, is also a tribute to Ms. Anderson.

Curated by composer Martha Mooke in conjunction with Women in Music, the concert segment will include performances by American pianist Kathleen Supové, Puerto Rican composer and multi-instrumentalist Angelica Negrón, and Ms. Mooke.

Composers Now celebrates and honors living composers, the diversity of their voices and the significance of their contributions to the cultural fabric of our society. The Composers Now Festival brings together performances presented by venues, ensembles, orchestra, opera, musical theater and dance companies as well as many other innovative events through New York City.

In January 2015, Composers Now was awarded a transformative grant from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. This event is sponsored in part by Yamaha. For more information, please visit composersnow.org.
