The official music video for Lily & Madeleine's new single, "Come to Me," premiered today at VEVO. The song is from the emerging sister's self-titled, full-length debut, which will be released October 29 on Asthmatic Kitty Records and is currently available for pre-order at iTunes and Asthmatic Kitty Records' website. In advance of the release, the duo recently made their national television debut on "CBS This Morning" performing "Come to Me" as well as "Devil We Know." Several special U.S. tour dates are confirmed this fall including dates at New York's Rockwood Music Hall and Chicago's Schubas. See below for details.
Earlier this year, a new, in-the-studio video for "Devil We Know" premiered at Lucky Magazine and is now available to view/embed here. Of the song, the magazine praises, "in a sea of auto-tuned sameness, their soulful and simple harmonies stand out like none other," while The New York Times' T Magazine blog calls it, "the centerpiece of the record, an appealing back-country portrait comprised of a slow-rolling piano melody, deftly plucked acoustic guitar and the teens' tender, swirling voices." The single was also featured on a recent episode of NPR Music's "All Songs Considered." Moreover, TeenVogue.com selected the album as one of their "13 Most Exciting Albums Coming out This Fall," describing the music as "...Rilo Kiley meets First Aid Kit."
Lily & Madeleine follows the duo's debut EP, The Weight of the Globe, which was released earlier this year to widespread acclaim. Of the music, American Songwriter asserts, "Their voices can pierce through the chaos of everyday life and actually make you stop what you're doing, if only for a second, and truly listen," while Vogue.com proclaims "This isn't the first time we've become enrapt with two sisters harmonizing, but it's a bell we never tire of hearing ring."
Produced by Paul Mahern (John Mellencamp, The Fray), the 11-track album was recorded in Bloomington, IN and was written by the sisters and longtime collaborator Kenny Childers (Gentleman Caller). Of the project, Madeleine comments, "The new album reflects on our experiences as we grow as artists; looking both back to the places we've visited growing up for inspiration, and looking forward to our hopes for the future. This project really feels like our own, and we're so grateful to those who helped us create it."
Born and raised in Indianapolis, the sisters (Lily, age 16 and Madeleine, age 19) originally gained notice when the acoustic video for their song "In the Middle" was featured on the homepage at Reddit. To date, the video has been viewed over 320,000 times. A complete series of acoustic videos can be viewed at the duo's YouTube page.
