Kix Brooks, Bob Dipiero, Tim Nichols & Jon Nite Set for CMA Songwriters Series at Joe's Pub, 2/11-12
The CMA Songwriters Series returns in its tenth year to the venue where it all began, Joe's Pub in New York City, with a two-night event on February 11 and 12. Celebrating its decade-long run, the CMA Songwriters Series features songwriter and host Bob DiPiero performing alongside Kix Brooks, Tim Nichols, and Jon Nite. A limited number of tickets are on sale now and show times for both nights are 7:00 and 9:30PM.
Perhaps best known as an intimate cabaret space, Joe's Pub has quietly become one of the most respected contemporary country music showcases in America. "The primary mission of Joe's Pub is to reflect the culture of downtown Manhattan but we also strive to present a broadly diverse selection of important Americana," says Shanta Thake, the artistic director of Joe's Pub. "Our ongoing partnership with The Country Music Association has given us an amazing opportunity to present many of country's biggest names and most successful songwriters to an urban audience. We're proud to continue to provide a home away from Nashville for country music."
Dozens of contemporary country superstars (including The Band Perry, Eric Church, Jamey Johnson, Dierks Bentley, Lori McKenna, Rivers Rutherford, Little Big Town, Sunny Sweeney, Phil Vassar, and DeAnna Carter) have played at Joe's over the past decade.
"I did this guitar pull the first time at Joe's Pub in New York and it's going to be great coming back to celebrate," says musician and CMA Songwriter Series headliner Kix Brooks (of Brooks and Dunn)."This audience gets it and it just never gets old performing there."
Brooks and DiPiero have a long history with the CMA Songwriters Series. As CMA's Chairman of the Board in 2005, Brooks was a key player, alongside DiPiero, in the creation and launch of the series and its first shows in New York 10 years ago as a way to spotlight and champion songwriters. A 19-time CMA Award winner and one half of superstar Country duo Brooks & Dunn, Brooks penned many hits for the group including "Red Dirt Road," "Brand New Man," "Only In America," and "You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone." Brooks was also named CMA National Broadcast Personality of the Year in 2009, 2011, and 2013 as the host of American Country Countdown.
