Johnny Mathis Plays The Orpheum for the Holidays Tonight

World renowned vocal artist Johnny Mathis returns to The Orpheum Theatre tonight, December 21 at 8:00 PM for a special holiday concert, which will include songs from his newest Christmas album, Sending You A Little Christmas, released in 2013.

Presenting an enchanting evening of ballads, Johnny Mathis will celebrate the yuletide season in Memphis with his greatest hits and familiar holiday tunes. Mathis will be accompanied by comedian Gary Mule Deer, who will take the stage between sets.

"As the Orpheum continues to celebrate its 85th Anniversary with a once-in-a-lifetime lineup of entertainment, we are excited to welcome Johnny Mathis and Gary Mule Deer back to Memphis for another unforgettable performance," says Orpheum President and CEO Pat Halloran. In June of 1957, Johnny Mathis appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show where he was introduced to the record buying public and became a national celebrity and household name. Over half a century later, Mathis continues to captivate audiences world-wide with hits like "Misty," "Wonderful, Wonderful," "Too Much, Too Little, Too Late," and "It's Not For Me To Say." Johnny Mathis has sold millions of records, been nominated for 4 Grammys, and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award by the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in 2003, as well as having two of his songs inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Over the years, Mathis has become a holiday tradition due to hit seasonal albums like Christmas Eve with Johnny Mathis, The Christmas Album, and his latest release, Sending You A Little Christmas. This 2013-2014 Anniversary tour commemorates his long and successful career through a truly memorable performance.
