The Mayor's Charity Ball 2014 promises to be the event of the year, and two special guests will be making an appearance at the gala. John Mastroianni, Director of Bands at Hall High School and CT's 2014 Teacher of the Year, will be this year's Guest of Honor. Another special guest will be Jim Altman of FOX CT, who will be acting as Auctioneer.

An accomplished saxophonist and composer, he previously taught at New York University, Albertus Magnus College, and New Canaan High School. He also acts as an adjunct jazz faculty member at the University of Connecticut, and leads his own 16-piece orchestra for which he composes music. "Mr. Mastroianni has been a regular volunteer at The Mayor's Charity Ball, and we are thrilled to have him as our Guest of Honor this year," said Tracy Flater, executive director of Playhouse on Park. He has received numerous Emmys for his reporting, most recently Best Feature Reporter and Outstanding News Writer. He supports many charitable causes, and has acted as emcee for several fundraisers.
