Jerry Joseph releases By The Time Your Rocket Gets To Mars today on Voodoo Doughnut Recordings/Cosmo Sex School Records. The album was largely written while on tour in Ireland, Paris and while volunteering at an underground co-ed rock school in Afghanistan. Writing while touring internationally affected the way he wrote. Joseph describes, "I was desperately trying to not write dark political songs. I was hoping more for magic and God and love, themes that have eluded me in the past." Watch "Mars" Video here

In his three decades of making music, Joseph has written 250 songs and has played on every continent except Africa, with recent tours taking him to Lebanon, Iceland, Cambodia, Israel and Afghanistan. Joseph's interest in far-flung, under-explored locales led to him being called "the Anthony Bourdain of touring musicians" (Marquee Magazine).

Music and global politics came together for him early, the grandson of Lebanese, Syrian and Irish Catholic immigrants and the son of a renowned fisheries scientist, who grew up internationally. His interest in seeking out unique experiences and exploring the world led Joseph to his first professional performance as a musician at age 15 in New Zealand, to travel through Nicaragua and El Salvador with Woody Harrelson and to teach at an underground co-ed rock school in Kabul during wartime.

Recorded at TRI Studios, produced by Dave Schools (J Mascis and the Fog, Hard Working Americans, Stockholm Syndrome), mixed by Jim Scott (Tom Petty, Wilco) and featuring Joseph's full band, Steve Drizos on drums, Steven James Wright on bass and Jeff Crosby on guitar, as well as special guests Mookie Siegel on keyboard, Scott Law and Steve Kimock on guitar, Jason Crosby on piano and Michael Lewis (Blue Skies For Black Hearts) on vocals, By The Time Your Rocket Gets To Mars is the second of three full length records resulting from these sessions. The first, Istanbul/Fog of War, released in October 2015 is two songs, 31 minutes of music, recorded in one take. The third in the series is tentatively scheduled to be released in Fall of 2016.
