Jennifer Lopez to Return to Acting in NBC Drama SHADES OF BLUE

The Hollywood Reporter writes that Jennifer Lopez will be heading back to the small screen. NBC has ordered the 13-episode drama SHADES OF BLUE straight to series. Lopez will star as Harlee McCord, a single mother and "dirty cop" who ends up working for the FBI's anti-corruption task force.

"Whether it's producing, acting, singing or any of her other many entrepreneurial activities, Jennifer is an extraordinary talent and life force, and we're delighted to be in business with her and Adi Hasak on this sophisticated show," NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said in a statement. "We're especially excited that Jennifer is returning to her acting roots from such great movies as Out of Sight and we know that she will create this complicated character in a vivid way that will breathe new life into the cop show genre."

The series will premiere in the 2015-16 season.

American Idol judge, singer, actress, fashion designer, producer and more, Lopez's upcoming big screen projects include The Boy Next Door, Home and Lila & Eve. She recently appeared in the movies Parker, What to Expect When You're Expecting, The Back-up Plan and more. Among her TV credits are How I Met Your Mother, Second Chances, Hotel Malibu, South Central, and In Living Color.
