BASQUIAT
December 16 at 7:30 PM
$18
During the late 70's early 80's, when the world needed change, no one saw the collective of artists from New York's East Village paving the way. At the center of this movement was Jean-Michel Basquiat, a painting and graffiti artist hell-bent on becoming 'famous'. His persona would lead him to be called the 'Wild Child' of the art world, the Radiant Child. Ambition, abandonment and drugs fueled his overnight success, but his work would lead him to be labeled the 'Black Picasso' of his time, a label that served more as a weight than a banner. The music in this piece evokes the time and place in a raw and gutsy no-holds-barred approach in combining Punk, Rock, New Wave, Jazz, Musical Theatre and Rap. It draws us into the thrill and grittiness that was the pre-gentrified New York City of the 1980's. Composer - Chris Blisset, Lyricist - Matt Uremovich, Book - Larry Tobias, Conceived and Directed - Paul Stancato. Featuring:Eric L. Summers, Tituss Burgess, Felicia Finley, Lena Hall, Julius Thomas III, Ken Ronbinson,Roger DeWitt, Nikki Kimbrough, Ben Mapp, Chad Carstarphen, Eddie Varley, Ruben Ortiz & Jimmy Lambert

Mike Errico HOLIDAY SHOW
December 19 at 7:00 PM
$20
The Mike Errico Holiday Show is a highlight in a year that has been filled with them. While maintaining a career as a recording artist and producer for TV and film, he has been teaching at Yale University and NYU's Clive Davis School of Recorded Music, where his guests have included Amanda Palmer, Benny Blanco, Jonathan Coulton, Ryan Miller, and others. In keeping with a long-standing Holiday Show tradition, Mike will distribute gifts, known as "Holiday Omens." Recipients will be invited to interpret the Omen's personal significance in the coming year. Hilarious, poignant or cautionary, they have proven to be alarmingly accurate.

Ethan Lipton & HIS ORCHESTRA
December 19 at 9:00 PM
$20
Dubbed 'Best Lounge Act of 2009' by New York Magazine, Ethan Lipton & His Orchestra play an edgy brand of jazz/folk/alternative nosh with a chewy singer-songwriter center. With melancholy wit and a cockeyed worldview, sepia-toned frontman Lipton and band mates Eben Levy (guitar), Ian Riggs (bass) and Vito Dieterle(sax) deliver songs steeped in mixed-message sincerity and soul. The band has appeared at Celebrate Brooklyn, MASS MOCA, Bryant Park, the Camden Opera House, Tangier (LA), Vermont Arts Exchange, and has been featured on NPR and radio stations around the country. "Ethan Lipton is to lounge lizardry what Peter Sellers's Inspector Clouseau is to policing, presenting his singular, funny-miserable take on life via jazzy, brass-festooned songs. It's good stuff." -Time Out NY
