Friday, July 26 at 8 p.m.
Saturday, July 27 at 7 p.m.
Emily Bergl, best known for her role on TV shows such as "Desperate Housewives" and Broadway, brings her signature nouveau cabaret style to San Francisco with "Until the Real Thing Comes Along." Directed by Sarna Lapine (War Horse, Sondheim on Sondheim, South Pacific), and musical directed by Jonathan Mastro, "Until the Real Thing Comes Along," exposes the lengths we go to in our search for love and what we do to when we don't find it, or even more frightening, when we do. In her signature nouveau cabaret style, Bergl uses the past to illuminate the present, blending together Irving Berlin with Blondie, Rodgers and Hammerstein with Tracey Chapman, and even Noel Coward with Britney Spears. Audiences are treated not only to an evening of diverse songs, but a full cast of characters all personified by this veteran Broadway actress. For anyone looking for an evening of song that's heartbreaking, droll, and a little dangerous, this is your cabaret. Bergl burst on the cabaret scene in 2011, garnering raves from The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. She has performed at the legendary Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel, Café Carlyle, and across the country.
Christine Andreas · "BEMUSED"
Thursday, August 1 at 8 p.m.
Friday, August 2 at 8 p.m.
Saturday, August 3 at 7 p.m.
This award-winning singer, Broadway star, and Tony nominee most recently completed a year in La Cage aux Folles with Kelsey Grammer, as well as a much acclaimed National tour as Margaret Johnson in The Light in the Piazza. On Broadway, Andreas first captured NYC theatre-goers' hearts in the 20th anniversary production of My Fair Lady as Eliza Doolittle (Theatre World Award); followed by the revival of Oklahoma! as Laurey, working with Billy Hammerstein & Agnes DeMille, (Tony nomination); andOn Your Toes as Frankie Frayne directed by legendary George Abbott, (Tony nomination). She created the role of Marguerite St. Just in The Scarlet Pimpernel and received a Barrymore Award for her portrayal of Vera Simpson in Rodgers & Hart's Pal Joey.
"Bemused" is the tangy, sassy, musically eclectic new act Ms. Andreas has written herself ....a play on words 'to-be-mused' - the musical spark that ignites when just the right singer and just the right song-writer collide, giving the multi-talented song stylist myriad moods to explore, and a challenging repertoire of songs to explore them in.
Thursday, August 8 at 8 p.m.
Ariana Savalas may be a newcomer to the music scene but her sound echoes music of another era. As she makes her way to the stage, she evokes the sheer glamour and talent of movie star idols like Rita Hayworth and Veronica Lake, but when she sings, her voice and sound harkens back to the days of Etta James and Dinah Washington. The daughter of legendary film and television actor Telly Savalas (TV's "Kojak" and Birdman of Alcatraz), Savalas is a seasoned recording artist and live performer specializing in songs, songwriters and artists from the 1930s-1950s. Savalas will perform tracks off her newly released album, Sophisticated Lady, as well as classics of the Great American Songbook.
