The Staten Island Museum's new state-of-the-art facility is slated to open to the public on September 19, 2015 and singer/songwriter Ingrid Michaelson is determined to name one of the 5 new gallery spaces after her mother, the Museum's late President & CEO, Elizabeth Egbert.

Demos for Betty (Benefiting the Staten Island Museum) is now available for purchase on itunes with proceeds going to the Staten Island Museum in memory of Elizabeth Egbert. In addition, Ingrid is offering VIP packages at every stop of her tour ranging from $20 - $500 (in addition to your ticket price) which will also benefit the Museum. Packages vary from song dedications during her set, exclusive swag, and early venue entry to backstage tours, meet and greet, and a photo with the artist. Packages can be purchased through IngridMichaelson.com/tour.

Elizabeth Egbert, a noted artist, sculptor and community activist, whose leadership of the Staten Island Museum for 12 years [2002 - 2014] transformed the Museum into one of New York City's most engaging cultural entities, died last August, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. Ms. Egbert's proudest achievement includes restoring the first of two triple landmarked buildings on the grounds of Snug Harbor Cultural Center, scheduled to open this September. The new Museum building will feature exhibitions from the Museum's permanent collection and a venue for exhibitions in the disciplines of art, natural science, and regional history.

"She's everywhere in that museum -- she's in the walls, she's in the varnish," Michaelson said at the Museum's Spring Gala. "But having her name above that space would be very permanent."

"Ingrid is so proud of what her mother has accomplished and would like to see her mother's dedication memorialized in a very lasting way in the Museum she championed and so loved," said Cheryl Adolph, Interim President & CEO.

Founded in 1881 and celebrating its 134th year, the Staten Island Museum, New York City's only general interest museum, engages visitors with interdisciplinary exhibitions and educational programs that explore the dynamic connections between natural science, art, and history based on its diverse collections. The Museum serves over 219,000 adults and school children at the Museum and in the community. Located two blocks from the Ferry Terminal, visitors can embark on a voyage through time in the Staten Island Ferry exhibit; see rocks glow in the dark in the Hall of Natural Sciences; and experience the lives of Staten Island's first inhabitants. In Building H on the Snug Harbor Campus, visitors can explore the latest exhibitions in the History Center Gallery, or make a research appointment for the History Archives & Library. Staten Island Museum is owned by the City of New York and benefits from public funds provided through the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.
