Baronesa, the most recent work of singer/actress/songwriter Cristina Morrison, has been nominated for an Independent Music Award as Best Vocal Jazz Album. Baronesa also garnered a Vox Populi Fan Award for The Sky is in Your Eyes, a jazzy chill out vibe song. Lyrics written in English and Italian. Music by Misha Piatigorsky. The Independent Music Awards, IMAS, is platform created to help exceptional independent artists get the opportunities they need and deserve. It's a prestigious honor and most coveted peer-recognition symbol of distinction in the indie music scene. The winners of this year's awards will be announced at the 15th Annual IMAS ceremony on Saturday November 12th at the David Rubenstein Atrium in Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

"To be heard in a jury committee made up of amazing and respected artists like Tom Waits, Dido, Suzanne Vega, Robert Glasper, Alejandro Sanz and others and for my album, BARONESA, been chosen between thousands of submissions is truly a gift," says Cristina and adds "Moreover, be running in the same category as Macy Gray is awesome. I used to listen to her everyday back in the 90's when I lived in Galapagos. I totally dig her!"

Baronesa, Cristina's second record, is an eclectic cross genre world jazz album in several languages and lyrics written by her. In her staging she incorporates theatrical elements and visual arts. Part of her album sales support, ARTEDUCARTE, an educational program through the arts in the public schools of Isabela Island in the Galapagos.

Cristina Morrison is an actor, singer-songwriter & producer. Cristina was born in Miami and has lived between Quito (her mother being Ecuadorian), Miami, Los Angeles, Rome, Galapagos Islands and currently lives in New York since 7 years ago. Morrison had her debut on stage at age 16 and some years after she graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. In the mid 90's she founded and held post as Executive Director of a 110-seat house, El Socavon de Guápulo Theatre Foundation in Quito, Ecuador where she also produced her own plays. As an actor, Cristina has three independent film releases coming up, Translucido (Thin Walls) by Leonardo Zelig, Nadie nos Mira (Nobody's Watching) by Julia Solomonoff and Agujero Negro by Diego Araujo in 2017.
