The Rewind Show is a vision we have had for as long as we have been in the business of night clubs and event planning. We are tired of the same concept that every night-club in NYC has been stuck with over the years and think that it's time to change the way to party! As we all know nothing can compare to a live performance and therefore we have created the Rewind Show! We want to bring an experience like no other by combining the live music of the 80's Rock & Roll era along with the best DJ's spinning the present hits. Every Saturday night, the Highline Ballroom will operate as a high-end night club to let people experience the Rewind Show. (http://therewindshow.com/)

His most recent records include "Walk Pretty", the songs of Alec Wilder, "Nick's Bump". and "Cien Noches" recorded live in Madrid. The notion of "traditional hip hop" has changed forever. Whether you're talking about genre bending projects from superstars like Kanye and Lil Wayne or new artists like Kid Cudi hip-hop has reached a tipping point and it's followers are expanding their horizons. Chiddy Bang is a Philly based duo comprised of Chiddy (emcee) and Xaphoon Jones (DJ/producer) who combine elements of indie and electronica with some good al fashioned "spitting". The result has been described by some bloggers as a "hipsters wet dream", but Chiddy Bang prefers to think of themselves as "kings of the basement party jam".

BENEVENTO RUSSO DUO
Doors at 7:30pm, Show at 8:30pm
$15 adv, $18 at door
Necessity can be an interesting motivator. Offered a slot at the famed New York venue the Knitting Factory, drummer Joe Russo roped in old friend and multi-instrumentalist and keyboardist Marco Benevento, and the Benevento Russo Duo was born. Since no songs were written for their initial gig, the Duo (as they were sometimes referred to as) began as a sort of indie rock jam band that occasionally drifted off into Led Zeppelin riffs. Eventually settling in as a (mainly) drum and organ duo, Benevento and Russo released a pair of album themselves, before signing up with Ropeadope in 2005. Their first full-length for the label, Best Reason to Buy the Sun was a critical success, and the band wound up spending the remainder of the year touring, as well as performing at Bonnaroo and SXSW. 2006 was rung in with a trip to Los Angeles to record their follow up, entitled Play, Pause, Stop. The band has also made appearances in other permutations: Drew Direwitz from Weezer occasionally appeared with Benevento and Russo to perform Zeppelin tunes under the moniker Bustle in Your Hedgerow and the Duo teamed up with Trey Anastasio and Mike Gordon and toured as GRAB. That particular act opened shows for Phil Lesh as well as headlining some of their own gigs.

Saturday, August 28
NEW RIDERS OF THE PURPLE SAGE
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$18 adv, $22 at door
The New Riders of the Purple Sage, signed to Columbia Records by Clive Davis, released its eponymous first album in September 1971 to widespread acclaim. In the next 11 years the band toured and released over 12 albums, selling over 4 million records. NRPS began as a part-time spin-off from the Grateful Dead when Jerry Garcia (pedal steel guitar), Phil Lesh (bass) and Mickey Hart (drums) teamed up with John Dawson (guitar, vocals) and David Nelson (guitar). By 1970 Dave Torbert had replaced Lesh, and Spencer Dryden, formerly of Jefferson Airplane, had joined as the group's permanent drummer. Garcia remained in both The Dead and The New Riders until he found himself overcommitted, at which time Buddy Cage replaced him and the classic NRPS lineup was born. Original NRPS bass player Dave Torbert and drummer Spencer Dryden have passed away, co-founder John Dawson Passed away in 2009 due to ongoing health problems. His considerable talents will be missed but his songs and musical legacy will live on. Before he passed he had given his blessing and was excited to know his music is being heard live again by a whole new generation of fans. The new lineup vows to keep the NRPS spirit and tunes alive by taking them to fans everywhere. The band recently teamed up with Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter and released it's first CD in twenty years to rave reviews, Where I Come From (Woodstock Records).

McKay's Verve Records salute to the woman born Doris Mary Ann Von Kappelhoff, Normal As Blueberry Pie - A Tribute to Doris Day, features the iconic New York singer/songwriter interpreting a colorful selection of songs from Day's extensive recordings-with the smart arrangements and crackerjack instrumentalists listeners have come to expect.

MOSHAV
with The Groggers
Doors at 7:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$15 adv, $20 at door
An eclectic blend of rock, indie, reggae, middle-eastern... One of Israel's finest exports! This show is the release party for their eighth CD titled "Dancing in a Dangerous World". Raised on the Moshav Meor Modi'im, a musical village in the hills between Jerusalem 8pmand Tel Aviv, the three young men who make up Moshav -- Yehuda (vocals, percussion), Duvid (vocals, u8 guitar), and Yosef (bass) -- have learned and played music since childhood. Imagine the jamming of Phish mixed with the vocal strength of Pearl Jam and the spiritual lyrics of U2 seasoned with a Middle Eastern influence, and you can begin to describe the unique sound of Moshav. It's not typical for a band that the mainstream rock world is not yet familiar with to make their first mainstream release a "Best Of" compilation but, for Moshav, already well-known and hugely successful in the Judaic market, it makes perfect sense. Although their music comes from and is steeped in the Jewish culture of their upbringing, Moshav is as mainstream as any pop/alternative band.
