Comprised of Longwave vocalist/guitarist Steve Schlitz and three members of Blue October - brothers Jeremy and Justin Furstenfeld and bassist Matt Noveskey - Harvard of the South traces its beginnings to 2009 when the two groups toured together and is now kicking into high gear. The quartet features Steve and Justin taking the lead as dual vocalists, with Steve and Jeremy as the band's creative driving force.

"Harvard of the South was originally conceived to be a fun project amid the other things we were doing," explains Steve on the band's origin. "When we finished the recordings, I was pretty surprised at how closely it turned out to that idea! It sounds like we're enjoying ourselves."

"I completely agree w Steve here," adds Jeremy. "One thing that completely sets Harvard of the South and Blue apart, to me, is spontaneity. The whole way we went about writing, and recording these songs, was different. There was never intention to release these, originally. There was no pressure that came along w an existing band. Will you out do your last record, will you make the label, or radio happy? None of that pressure was there. We just wanted to make ourselves happy and play music that inspired us."

The band recorded, edited and produced the Miracle EP entirely on its own at Jeremy's home studio. A full-length album is also in the works.
