The musical elegance and style of Gilberto Santa Rosa has made him one of the most prominent figures of the popular music genre. Also known as "El Caballero de la Salsa" (The Gentleman of Salsa) Gilberto Santa Rosa is a Puerto Rican bandleader and singer of salsa and bolero. He is one of the most esteemed, and certainly one of the most tradition-minded, soneros to rise to fame in the 1980s, and his popularity and acclaim only increased in subsequent decades, as did his stateliness.

Gilberto is recognized as an artist in constant innovation. He captivates a worldwide audience of fans with his energetic personality, vocal improvisational skills and engaging sense of humor. He has released albums almost every year since his debut and has won acclaim for many. His many hits include "¿Estas Ahí?", "Déjala Bailar", "Quien te va a Querer", "El Ultimo Bolero", and "Si Yo Fuera Tu".

His many awards in the music industry reaffirm his success, including the 2002 ASCAP Latin Heritage Award, Premio Lo Nuestro Premio a la Trayectoria in 2002 and 5 GRAMMY awards including the 2010 Latin GRAMMY award for "Irrepetible" as Best Salsa Album, a 2006 Latin GRAMMY award and a 2007 GRAMMY award for his album, "Directo al corazón.

However for the artist there is no better reward than the consistent public support. As of 2010, he holds the record for the most number-one albums on the Billboard Tropical Albums chart.
