Full GREAT GATSBY Soundtrack Now Streaming
The complete soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann's highly-anticipated new 3D feature film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's heralded Jazz Age novel THE GREAT GATSBY is now available to stream in full, courtesy of NPR.
The intentionally anachronistic soundtrack for the film was executive produced by Luhrmann alonside rap icon Jay-Z, who has contributed to the film's score and songlist, as well.
The plucky, jazzy sounds of the era merge with modern hip-hop affectation and bravado in will.i.am's "Bang Bang", while Fergie (along with Q-Tip and GoonRock) cues up her inner Ella Fitzgerald for "A Little Party Never Killed Nobody". So, too, is Bryan Ferry and the Bryan Ferry Orchestra's "Love Is The Drug" an addictive addition to the songstack. Gotye's haunting "Heart's A Mess" and Jack White's spine-tingling "Love Is Blindness" add to the emo cred of the soundtrack, while indie darling Lana Del Rey contributes an evocative new tune, "Young And Beautiful". Plus, Florence & The Machine's propulsive "Over The Love" further amps up the heady and amorous atmosphere of the entire affair.
Additionally, Emeli Sande joins the Bryan Ferry Orchestra for a reworked and retrofitted "Crazy In Love".
Of note: Beyonce and Andre 3000 perform a new version of Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black" that is sure to rankle purists given its significant reworking of the tune. Other contributing artists to the GREAT GATSBY soundtrack include the xx, Coco O. of Quadron, Nero and Sia.
