Bay Area quartet SWMRS today announced that Fueled By Ramen will re-release their critically acclaimed debut album Drive North. Fueled By Ramen (home to Twenty One Pilots, Panic! At The Disco, Paramore, and many more) signed the band earlier this Fall. The re-released version of the album includes re-mastered versions of the original release's 12 tracks and new songs "Palm Trees" and "Lose It". Drive North is available now digitally

HERE and physically HERE.
This morning, the band shared a music video for their blistering new single "Palm Trees", directed by singer/guitarist Cole Becker. Describing the video, Becker offered, "'Palm Trees' explores the classic narrative of an artist going to Hollywood and having their hopes and dreams crushed by a system that takes advantage of the little guy. Our music videos are typically more fun and colorful, but we wanted to do something a little darker to convey the manipulator/manipulated dynamic in the song. It's an interesting juxtaposition, given our recent signing to Fueled By Ramen. Fear of being exploited was what drove us to initially self-release our record, but the label is the gold standard for the future of artist-centric business practices. We're really lucky to have found a home with people who support us understand the importance of our creative vision." Watch the band's music video for "Palm Trees" HERE.
The band also released a lyric video for new track "Lose It." Describing the down-tempo new addition to the album, singer/guitarist Max Becker shared, "There's an old Replacements interview where Paul Westerberg talks about not only having songs for people in the front of their shows, but also for those in the back of the room. I think adding 'Lose It to the album' helps us reach those kids in the back of the room." Watch the lyric video for "Lose It" HERE.
Produced by FIDLAR frontman Zac Carper, Drive North also features the band's debut single "Miley" which i-D Magazine premiered last fall, hailing the song as "the most punk tribute to Miley Cyrus ever." The band's DIY music video for the track can be seen HERE. Album opener, "Harry Dean" is an abridged version of a previously 17-minute epic the band originally recorded to soundtrack Saint Laurent Paris's Spring/Summer 2016 presentation, earning them praise from fashion publications like WWD and Interview Magazine.
SWMRS toured North America and Europe extensively in support of the initial release of Drive North, performing 123 shows to date in 2016. The band appeared at a handful of influential US radio events (Live 105 BFD, 91X X-Fest, KFMA Day) and major European Festivals (Reading & Leeds, Pukkelpop, The Great Escape, Isle of Wright - Bestival). Later this month, SWMRS will embark on the "Too Much Tour" of the US with FIDLAR and The Frights. Prior to the tour, SWMRS will perform at Beach Goth in Santa Ana, CA.
