Director John Singleton is no longer attached to the upcoming biopic of the late rapper Tupac Shakur. Singleton shared his reasons for leaving the project via Instagram.

"Real talk! The reason I am not making this picture is because the people involved aren't really respectful of the legacy of Tupac Amaru Shakur," Singleton posted.

The director also announced his plans to make another Tupac film of his own. His Instagram message outlined his desire to make the film more authentic than the project currently in the works.

"If Tupac knew what was going on he'd ride on all these fools and take it to the streets... " Singleton went on. "But I won't do that ... I'll just make my own project. What Yall think about that?!!"

Singleton had a close relationship with the late rapper, and worked with him on the 1993 film POETIC JUSTICE. He is best known for his directing work on BOYZ N THE HOOD and 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS.
