Debbie Reynolds, Betty Buckley and More Set for Richmond Hill Centre's 2012-13 Season

The Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts announced the details of its 2012-2013 Season today, featuring Debbie Reynolds and Betty Buckley. Filled with premieres and exclusive GTA appearances the 2012-2013 Season, Captured Moments, will further solidify the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts as the centre of culture in York Region.

“Our 2012-2013 season invites you to take a moment to enjoy a live performance”, says Michael Grit, Theatre Manager for the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts. “Our lives continue to move at break neck pace, the theatre gives us an opportunity to capture a moment in time and reminds us to savor what’s important.”

Debbie Reynolds - Wednesday October 17, 2012 at 8pm
Warm, dazzling and dynamic, American icon Debbie Reynolds has been entertaining us for over six decades. From her memorable onscreen roles in Singin’ in the Rain and The Unsinkable Molly Brown to her numerous TV appearances on such hit shows as The Love Boat and Will & Grace, Debbie Reynolds has transcended generations. Steve Patterson “This is Not Debatable”- Friday October 19th at 8pm
As host of CBC Radio One and CBC Television’s wildly successful The Debaters Steve Patterson has become a household name, with more than half a million weekly listeners and viewers. A Gemini Award nominee and veteran of the comedy festival circuit, Patterson brings his trademark self-deprecating delivery and razor-sharp wit to the Richmond Hill stage. The Velveteen Rabbit - Monday October 22, 2012 at 7pm
With a little bit of nursery magic and a whole lot of theatrical magic, the classic tale of a toy bunny who longs to become real comes to life for a whole new generation in this wonder-filled, interactive
production. An unforgettable theatrical experience based on the immortal book by Margery Williams, The Velveteen Rabbit is a joyous testament to the eternal power of a child’s imagination.

Classic Albums Live presents...
Queen: A Night at the Opera- Tuesday October 23, 2012 at 8pm
Released in 1975 and featuring the unmistakable vocals of the immortal Freddie Mercury, A Night at the Opera is the fourth album by the British rock group Queen and the band’s first platinum seller. Cited by music publications as one of Rock’s finest works it features the classic hits You’re My Best Friend and the classic rock anthem Bohemian Rhapsody. Complete the evening with a second act dedicated to Queen’s greatest hits. Single tickets $45, $41

Jennifer Warnes- Friday October 25, 2012 at 8pm
American singer and songwriter Jennifer Warnes is best known for her rich distinctive voice and the duets that helped define two iconic feature films. Both #1 hits, Up Where We Belong with Joe Cocker and (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life with Bill Medley catapulted Jennifer Warnes to international fame. Tap Kids- Tuesday November 13th at 7pm

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie- Saturday November 24th, 2012 at 11am
Eight delightful stories come to life in TheatreworksUSA’s sparkling musical revue If You Give a Mouse a Cookie & Other Story Books. This series of mini-musicals are based on a number of popular children’s books, including If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, Amazing Grace, Borreguita and the Coyote, Imogene’s Antlers, Master Man, Math Curse and Owen. Wingfield’s Progress- Tuesday November 27th at 8pm
The Richmond Hill Centre continues its presentation of the complete Wingfield cycle with the second installment, Wingfield’s Progress. In his second season on The Farm Walt faces a new challenge, the spectre of urban development. Can he mobilize the neighbourhood to save the rustic splendour of Larkspur? Walt and his neighbours are back in this hilarious sequel to Letter From Wingfield Farm. Single tickets $42, $38

Jason McCoy- Saturday December 22nd at 8pm
Celebrate the holiday season with Canadian Country Music star and Country Male Vocalist of the Year Jason McCoy. In this interactive Christmas show, guests drop by on the big screen to join Jason for holiday favourites, and McCoy originals. Join Jason for an evening of sing-alongs, requests and laughter as Richmond Hill shares the spirit of the season with this extraordinary artist.

New Year’s Eve- Monday December 31st at 10pm
The RHCPA follows up on last year’s wildly successful event with another New Year’s Eve celebration that will have you moving until midnight and beyond. Join the Blackboard Blues Band as we transform the largest stage in York Region into Richmond Hill’s premiere dance floor. Lucille Chung- Tuesday January 15th at 8pm
