On Wednesday afternoon, Toronto-based deejay Deadmau5 (actually named Joel Zimmerman) sent a cease and desist notice via twitter to the Toronto Fringe Festival about an upcoming parody musical about a mouse who is discriminated against when he wants to become a disk jockey titled Deadmouse: The Musical.

The official description from Toronto Fringe reads: "Deadmouse: The Musical is a comedy about a mouse who aspires to be a house DJ but is discriminated against for being a mouse. Joel Zimmermouse must team up with his best friend David Goudda and his flame, Cat, to overcome speciest discrimination and the mouse hating House DJ Avicheese. Not featuring the music of Deadmau5. Book of Mormon meets Ratatouille."

Zimmerman posted this notice to his twitter as a response to the festival's upcoming plans:

Zimmerman also followed up with: "If I don't protect my business who will? You? And if I don't speak, who speaks for me? You? F*** off with thyne self.*"

Later in the day, the official website of Deamouse: The Musical added a disclaimer which reads: "Just so there's no confusion Deadmouse the Musical is not written by Deadmau5 or endorsed by Deadmau5. It is a parody. It was written out of love of house music culture."

Later in the evening, Zimmerman followed up on twitter with "There. The dead mouse musical debacle is settled. They have just put up a disclaimer and called it a parody. Moving along now." He also tweeted "Speaking of, where do I send this bill for all this f***ing promo?"

The Toronto Fringe Festival could not be reached at the time of writing.
