Multi-talented singer/songwriter Danielle Prou, 15, of Los Angeles has been named national spokeswoman for Lion's Heart, a teen volunteer organization representing more than 4,200 student volunteers from 45 chapters around the country.

Lion's Heart provides students 6th through 12th grade an opportunity to gain valuable life and work skills by connecting them with community service opportunities where they live. By volunteering, students benefit from building skills such as meeting organization, team and relationship building, leadership training, and more. Students also earn college admission credit and have the opportunity to apply for community scholarships and awards.

As the national spokeswoman and founder of the Santa Monica Lion's Heart chapter, Prou will record and distribute several Public Service Announcements, volunteer at local charities, perform and speak at select chapters, and more.

Prou also recorded a new original single and music video called Lion's Heart that debuted today on YouTube and iTunes. The single will serve as the official song of the organization.

In addition to volunteering, the Santa Monica high school honors student is busy building a music career. She recently released a five-song, debut studio EP called "Heart." It features original songs including "Birdcage," "Daydream," "Shy," and "My Own Thing." Available on iTunes, the EP includes a cover song by Carole King called "Way Over Yonder."

"Danielle Prou brings a peer-to-peer approach to our organization connecting directly with our teen volunteers," said Lion's Heart Founder and Executive Director Terry Corwin. "We are encouraged by the opportunity to connect with young adults and transform them into community volunteers."

Often compared to Norah Jones and Alicia Keys, Prou's voice is soulful and music is a blend of alternative Indie rock and pop. She has toured across the country and internationally including performances in London and Manchester, England; Glasgow, Scotland, and more.

Lion's Heart volunteers have logged 350,000 total community service hours since 2004. Several national and local nonprofit organizations have benefited from Lion's Heart student volunteers including the Second Harvest Food Bank, Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Toys for Tots, American Red Cross, and others. Lion's Heart is headquartered in Mission Viejo, CA.
