"Divos and Divas with Marcus Nance" is an elegant afternoon of the best in jazz, cabaret, theatre and opera. As a fan of both the classy era of Johnny Hartman and Sarah Vaughan and the impressive showmanship of the opera and theatre worlds, Marcus Nance celebrates these traditions together in this series of Sunday brunch cabarets featuring some of the best singers from New York and Toronto.

With a new guest list each week, performers will include the likes of Canadian Idol winner Melissa O'Neil; Broadway stars Jeremy Kushnier and Jenny Lee Stern; Theatre 20 artistic director Adam Brasier; NY cabaret star Tanya L Holt; Niagara's Mantini Sisters; Canadian soulstress Alana Bridgewater and young exciting singers from the coming generation. Also featured will be pianist Michael Barber.

Marcus Nance has captivated audiences across Canada and the United States with his magnetic stage presence and lustrous bass-baritone voice. He is equally at home in theatre, opera and cabaret. Described by the New York Times as "a thrilling bass baritone", he has recently been seen as Caiaphas in Jesus Christ Superstar on Broadway at the La Jolla Playhouse and at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival. While in New York he also performed his cabaret series "Marcus Nance and Friends" at the Metropolitan Room. Marcus Nance has performed in Baz Luhrmann?s La Boheme on Broadway; in Kismet and Of Thee I Sing for New York City Center Encores!; Four Saints in Three Acts for Chicago Opera Theatre; Beauty and the Beast for both the Grand and Western Canadian Theaters; Cinderella for New York City Opera; Porgy and Bess with the Toronto Symphony; The Producers film; and many years as an artist with the Stratford and Shaw Festivals.

Marcus Nance will play The Jazz Bistro, 251 Victoria St, Toronto, ON, Sundays in April (7,14,21,28). $15 cover. For more information, call 416-363-5299 (jazz).
