Hear the original demo for a Kinky Boots showstopper!

2013 Tony Award-winning Best Musical Kinky Boots continues to inspire audiences 8 performances a week and a previously unreleased demo recording of songwriter Cyndi Lauper's original version of the standout score selection "Not My Father's Son" is now available to hear.

The official Facebook page posted the demo this week, relaying, "This never-before-heard demo of "Not My Father's Son" is dedicated to all of the parents who teach us to stand on our own two feet. #KinkyBoots".

Additionally, Lauper revealed the genesis of the song in a recent interview, sharing, "['Not My Father's Son] about unconditional love and about being true to yourself. Not everyone has an ideal relationship with their fathers, and sometimes there is some stuff you can't fix, but even Lola, whose dad rejects him, was able to find some closure with his father in the show."

KINKY BOOTS is a screen-to-stage adaptation of the 2005 British indie film featuring a score by pop icon Cyndi Lauper, who took home a 2013 Best Score Tony Award for her efforts on the musical collaboration with playwright, actor and activist Harvey Fierstein and director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell.
