In 1970, Charlie Daniels released his self-titled solo album. Two years later he formed the Charlie Daniels Band and an award-winning sound was created. The Grammy Award winners take the State Theatre stage on Friday, March 28.

Show time is 8 PM. Tickets are $52 & $40 and can be purchased by visiting the State Theatre Box Office, 453 Northampton Street, Easton, by calling 1-800-999-STATE, 610.252.3132 or online at www.statetheatre.org. Sponsored by Cat Country 96FM, 1847 Financial and enTrust Merchant Services.

Moving to Nashville in 1967, Charlie Daniels began making a name for himself as a songwriter, session musician and producer. Elvis Presley recorded a song ("It Hurts Me") that was co-written by Daniels and Charlie played on Bob Dylan's landmark album Nashville Skyline. It was the use of his own voice, however, that propelled Charlie Daniels to stardom.

Since forming the Charlie Daniels Band in 1972, the group has populated radio with memorable hits such as "Long Haired County Boy", "The South's Gonna Do It Again", In America", The Legend of Wooley Swamp" and his signature song "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," which won a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group in 1979 as well as Single of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards.

Over the course of his career, Charlie Daniels has received numerous accolades, including induction into the Grand Ole Opry and Musicians Hall of Fame. He ha been presented with the Pioneer Award by the Academy of Country Music and has a star on the Music City Walk of Fame.

An outspoken patriot, mentor to young artists and a road warrior at age 76, Charlie Daniels has parlayed his passion for music into a multi-platinum career and a platform to support the military, underprivileged children and others in need. Charlie lends his time to numerous charitable functions and is a member of the St Jude Children's Research Hospital Professional Advisory Board.
