California Roots Music & Arts Festival Announces The Release of Their Debut Vinyl Compilation
The eighth annual California Roots Music and Arts Festival will take place at the Monterey County Fair and Event Center from May 26-28, 2017. To celebrate, California Roots will release a limited edition vinyl picture disc featuring songs from bands on this year's line-up.
The release, aptly titled California Roots Vol. 1, is available for pre-order at http://californiarootsfestival.com. Attendees will be available to purchase the vinyl at the festival, but pre-orders are strongly recommended with only 1,000 copies pressed. Fans who pre-order can choose to have the record shipped to their house before the festival, or pick it up at the merch booth on site. The album was produced by festival co-producer Dan Sheehan alongside Eric Smith and Lem Oppenheimer of the indie tastemaker label Easy Star Records.
All profits from sales of the album will be donated to the 'Guitars Not Guns' (http://guitarsnotguns.org) program. Their mission is to "use music as a catalyst to encourage children and teens to use their creativity to foster personal development and to help divert them from the destructive influences of drugs, alcohol, and gang-related violence."
The art on the record was designed by Cali Roots' signature artist, Shaun Logan, weaving in imagery from past festivals with current branding. The jacket is designed as a gate-fold, with a spread image across both inside and outside. In addition, 30 copies for sale will include Golden Tickets, which will get lucky winners upgrades to VIP status for this year, gift certificates for festival merch, and even Redwood Level tickets for the 2018 edition of the festival.
In 2010, California Roots started as a vision for a backyard party with incredible music and good friends. The first year kicked off with approximately one thousand people in attendance, and immediately the festival producers knew they were creating something special. Now in its 8th year, the festival has grown exponentially, solidifying California Roots as a household name. Every Memorial Day weekend, over 12,000 fans from around the world come together at the Monterey County Fairgrounds - celebrating the music, the people and the movement!
Dan Sheehan, festival Co-Producer, states, "2017 celebrates Cali Roots' eighth year as a festival, but also the fiftieth year of the Monterey International Pop Festival, which happened on the same hallowed ground as our festival." He adds, "We wanted to embrace the time when physical music and vinyl was the standard for listening. I'm excited to be able to capture this year's lineup with our limited edition picture disc vinyl. It's something special that the fans can enjoy and be a part of." Concluding, "We are extremely honoured to be able to donate all proceeds to the 'Guitars Not Guns' music program in Monterey, CA, helping children channel their energy through music and positivity."
