CUNY TV's ARTS IN THE CITY, hosted by Carol Anne Riddell from The Haunted Pumpkin Garden at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx, celebrates October beginning Friday, Oct. 10 (2014) at 10am, 3pm and 8:30pm on CUNY TV*. The show is repeated Sunday 10/12 at noon and returns Friday 10/24 at 10am, 3pm and 8:30pm and on Sunday 10/26 at noon on CUNY TV. On and after Oct. 10, the program may be viewed anytime on www.cuny.tv.

Stories in this episode include Riddell's interview with mother-daughter author duo, Lisa Scottoline and Francesca Serritella, co-authors of Have A Nice Guilt Trip, a hilarious take on everything from marriage and break-ups to pets and eggplant parmesan. Tony Guida interviews Sam Roberts, urban affairs correspondent for the New York Times, at the exhibition Roberts curated at the New-York Historical Society inspired by his new book, A History of New York in 101 Objects.

Donna Hanover visits the landmark Louis Armstrong House Museum in Corona, Queens, where curator David Reese and archivist Ricky Riccardi tell her about Armstrong's life, music, and the home -- now a part of CUNY -- that served as his HAVEN between world travels and performances. Lisa Beth Kovetz profiles YA (Young Adult) novelist Laurie Boyle Crompton, author of Adrenaline Crush, featuring a heroine far removed from the demure characters of previous YA fiction.

Pat Collins interviews cast members of the smash Broadway revival of George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart's 1936 play, You Can't Take It With You -- including James Earl Jones, Rose Byrne, Annaleigh Ashford, Mark-Linn Baker, Fran Kranz and director Scott Ellis. And Barry Mitchell makes a brave attempt to join the circus, surrounded by strongmen and -women animating Suzi Winson and Michelle Arvin's Circus Warehouse in Long Island City.

*CUNY TV is broadcast over-the-air in the tri-state area on Ch. 25.3, and cablecast in the five boroughs of New York City on Ch. 75 (Time Warner and Optimum), Ch. 77 (RCN) and Ch. 30 (Verizon FiOS).
