Born Cages has emerged as one of the brightest and buzz-worthy acts on NYC's indie music scene and make it look natural with catchy hooks and earworm melodies. The electro-rock trio shared its new single "Half Asleep" and the April 7 release date of its forthcoming EP Exit Signs in a Burning Building exclusively with Pancakes & Whiskey . Along with the premiere, the band has announced the launch of its PledgeMusic campaign, as well as their new EP artwork and track listing below.

Produced by Vlad Holiday (lead vocals/guitar), Matt Maroulakos (bass/keys), Justin Gerrish (Vampire Weekend, The Strokes, Hamilton Leithauser), and mastered by Emily Lazar (Arcade Fire, The Killers, Lou Reed), the band released their first taste of the forthcoming EP with the punchy and roaring "Ain't Gonna Happen." The track, which charted on Spotify's United States Viral 50 in January, burst open the doors to a rhythmic, riff-laden and striking collection that is Exit Signs in a Burning Building.

The new track "Half Asleep" almost didn't make the EP. Holiday explains, "This was by far the last song I wrote for the new record...actually didn't start writing it until we were in the studio mixing with Justin Gerrish. I posted a clip of the guitar riff part on my Instagram story and a few people wrote back to me saying, "whoaa". So I thought, maybe I should turn this into something. I think I was feeding into the excitement that we were getting in the studio, and the chorus just became this big gospel-y moment of realization, from finally getting this album into the right direction after a year of reclusive writing."

The band delivers an electrifying live set that explains its always-packed hometown shows and past sets with some of music's biggest names such as X Ambassadors, Magic Man, Public Access TV and Guns 'N Roses, who hand-picked the band as support, speaking to its congruency in a long list of genres. Amid an influx of chaos, Born Cages borrows the EP title from the lyrics of its very own "Please Be Crazy" as a way to offer fans seven sonic escapes from their respective "burning buildings" and a better outlook on the other side of its topical and infectious second release.

Tonight, the band breaks its hometown silence to hit the stage at The Delancey with Saint Slumber and Teeth and Tongue. Born Cages goes on at 10pm, and tickets on sale now.
