Odeon Event Cinema by arrangement with Apollo Digital and Fox Home Entertainment proudly present a special concert event on the 1st May, where Oscar-nominated composer, and winner of four Grammy Awards, Antonio Sanchez, will lead a concert with music from the hugely successful and highly-acclaimed film BIRDMAN. Antonio Sanchez composed the score for the film and will be playing the music with his band Migration. Following the concert there will be a screening of BIRDMAN, which won the Oscar for best film this year, considered to be the highest of accolades in the film industry.

This is the first event from a new and exciting partnership between Odeon and Apollo Digital, with the aim that when the cinema is not screening films, this prime space and location will be used as a venue for many exciting and unique events in the future.

Antonio Sanchez began playing drums at age 5, and following a degree in classical piano at the National Conservatory in Mexico, he studied Jazz at the Berklee College of Music and New England Conservatory in Boston, America. On of the most sought after drummers on the international jazz scene, his playing is featured in over a hundred albums, and he regularly collaborates with some of the most prominent jazz musicians. Antonio has released three critically acclaimed albums and received the Film Critics Choice Award for best original filmscore for BIRDMAN.

His fellow musicians who will be playing in the concert with him on the 1st Mayare his band, Migration, comprised of Seamus Blake on Saxophone, John Escreet on piano, and Matt Brewer on bass.

BIRDMAN is a film about the seduction of fame and prestige, has been universally critically acclaimed and the recipient of numerous awards. The director of BIRDMAN, González Iñárritu explained the choice of Antonio's music by saying they helped to structure scenes, and that "The drums, for me, was a great way to find the rhythm of the film... In comedy, rhythm is king, and not having the tools of editing to determine time and space, I knew I needed something to help me find the internal rhythm of the film."
