This fall Anaïs Mitchell has been invited by Bon Iver to open for them on the East Coast leg of their North American tour including two sold-out nights at Radio City Music Hall. These dates follow Mitchell's recent sold-out U.K. tour in support of her latest release Young Man in America.

Mitchell's connection to Bon Iver began when Justin Vernon sang on Mitchell's 2010 album Hadestown. The album-a modern retelling of the Orpheus myth set in a Depression-era America-featured Vernon and Mitchell alongside Ani diFranco and Ben Knox Miller (The Low Anthem) among others. The album made numerous "end of year" lists including The Guardian, Observer and The Times. Hadestown will be pressed on vinyl for the first time in conjunction with the upcoming tour and is currently being developed into a theater production.

Following Hadestown, Mitchell released Young Man In America on her own Wilderland Records in February. American Songwriter declared that the album "slots in so perfectly with the best of Mitchell's work; by seamlessly enmeshing the personal, the political, and the universal," while The Philadelphia Inquirer said Mitchell's "penchant for aural experimentation sets her apart from her many peers." This summer, Pitchfork named the album one of the 2012 Overlooked Records saying Mitchell has "not just a powerful female voice, but one that rises above the general melee." Meanwhile, Bon Iver chose to cover the track Coming Down on Australia's famed Triple J radio strand "Like A Version," with Justin Vernon explaining that he "just worships her music."
