Allentown Band Concert & Fireworks to Highlight Independence Day Celebration at SteelStacks, 7/4-5
A variety of family programming including an Allentown Band concert, kids' water games and fireworks highlight the fun-filled, fourth-annual Independence Day Celebration presented by Embassy Bank July 4-5 at SteelStacks. All events and activities during the two-day celebration are free to attend.
On July 4, 7:30 p.m., at the Levitt Pavilion, the community is invited to experience patriotic rhythms and classical songs during a performance by The Allentown Band, the oldest civilian concert band in the U.S. Under the direction of Ronald Demkee, The Allentown Band takes pride in its ability to dazzle audiences with its diverse sounds ranging from opera infused overtures to compositions influenced by the music of John Philip Sousa. The band's performance will be followed by the City of Bethlehem's spectacular fireworks display.
The Independence Day Celebration continues July 5 starting at 11:30 a.m. with a Peas and Qs family performance at the Air Products Town Square by folk singer and educator Ed McDade. Afterward, children are invited to enjoy the Peas and Qs Summer Party beginning at 12:30 p.m. on the Levitt Pavilion lawn and Air Products Town Square. Events and activities include a sprinkler party and water balloon toss, as well as special 4th of July themed arts and crafts. Other outdoor activities throughout the day include quoits and horseshoes, plus music by The Sofa Kings, Mike Dugan, Marla and the Juniper Street Band, and the Lelica Band.
