Alex Feder is not afraid to order a Shirley temple from the cute, female bartender, as he proudly proclaims in his new song, "Alcohol." Today, Feder is happy to premiere the new track, along with an accompanying video, illustrated by Evelyn Chang, via Consequence of Sound.

"Alcohol" is a modern pop anthem for struggling romantics hiding in plain sight. In a style reminiscent of The Talking Head's classic "Once in a Lifetime," Feder laments the seemingly unreachable expectations that come with young adulthood. With biting spoken lyrics and a melodic, synth filled chorus, Feder declares "We can't go on like this!" The solution to his current plot in life? Alcohol - 14 shots to be exact.

Alex Feder used to be in a rock band in Brooklyn called The XYZ Affair. After they broke up, he moved to Los Angeles and found himself playing guitar in pop backing bands as a hired gun, playing music that was not his on tours that were not his.

Feder wrote the songs on this EP over the course of several Not-My-Tours, feeling frustrated and voiceless and lonely and often very drunk. The verses to "Whatever Forever" were written on a plane ride from New York to Los Angeles. He scrawled the first words to "Alcohol" on a hotel pad in Mexico City. He wrote the melody to "+1" in the only empty room he could find backstage at an arena in Lithuania. Feder says, "These songs have helped me make sense of a period that has felt senseless and disjointed."
