Alanis Morissette Next AMERICAN IDOL Judge?

AMERICAN IDOL is currently searching to fill the chairs of exiting judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. It was recently announced that Mariah Carey would join the show next season.

Among the names rumored to be in consideration for the Season 12 judges panel are country star Brad Paisley, pop star Nick Jonas and R & B star Sean "Diddy" Combs. Added to the list today is recording artist Alanis Morissette.

Morissette told Mix 941, a local CBS radio station that she is currently in discussions to joing the long-running FOX singing competition. "I'm in talks with somebody right now," says the singer. "I can't name any names, but I'm pretty excited about doing it more formally, yep ... I still have to investigate further and that's all I can say."

The superstar's first international album was the rock-influenced Jagged Little Pill, released in 1995. It sold more than 33 million units globally. Her following album, Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, was released in 1998 and was a success as well. Morissette took up producing duties for her subsequent albums, which include Under Rug Swept, So-Called Chaos and Flavors of Entanglement. Morissette has sold more than 60 million albums worldwide
