1600 Penn star Josh Gad was nominated for a Tony Award for his work in the Broadway SMASH THE BOOK OF MORMON. Rumors have been circulating that the award-winnning musical, created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone of SOUTH PARK fame, is headed for the big screen. "Eventually it absolutely will, I can assure you of that," affirmed the actor. Below, check out what other thoughts the actor had about the rumored big screen adaptation in a recent interview!

THE BOOK OF MORMON opened on Broadway in March 2011 and has garnered numerous theatre awards including nine Tony Awards, one of which was for Best Musical, and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.

An original Broadway cast recording was released in May 2011 and became the highest-charting Broadway cast album in over four decades, reaching No. 3 on the Billboard charts.

THE BOOK OF MORMON features book, music and lyrics by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone. Parker and Stone are the four-time Emmy Award-winning creators of Comedy Central's landmark animated series, "South Park." Tony Award-winner Lopez is co-creator of the long-running hit musical comedy, Avenue Q. The world premiere musical is choreographed by three-time Tony Award-nomineeCasey Nicholaw Monty Python's Spamalot, The Drowsy Chaperone and directed by Nicholaw and Parker.
