Future Folk is actually a real bluegrass/comedy duo that have been performing in NY for almost 7 or 8 years. They perform in costume, and in character, their backstory being that they are originally from a planet called Hondo. The film, directed by J. Anderson Mitchell and Jeremy Kipp Walker, tells "their story," and how General Trius (Nils d'Aulaire), whose planet was in danger of being destroyed by a comet, came to Earth looking for a new home for his people. His mission was to kill everything on the planet, but when he heard music for the first time, he was so moved by the beautiful collection of sounds Unknown on Hondo, he abandoned his mission and got a banjo. The same thing happens to Kevin (Jay Klaitz), the deadly assassin sent from Hondo to take over the general's mission, and he and the general start performing all over NYC while trying to save both planets from destruction.
