Just as the subject of the film itself, Universal's DRACULA has undergone a slew of identity crises.

The project, originally titled DRACULA: YEAR ZERO, was given the retitle treatment earlier this summer to the simpler DRACULA. Today, the studio has announced its Luke Evans-led horror flick will now go by the slightly less appealing DRACULA UNTOLD.

Evans, LES MISERABLES' Samantha Barks, and Dominic Cooper star, with Gary Shore directing. The film features a script by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, and is based on Bram Stoker's classic 1897 horror novel, this new take on the tale will incorporate bits of history from the life of the real Prince Vlad.

DRACULA UNTOLD also stars Sarah Gadon, GAME OF THRONES' Art Parkinson, and Icelandic actor Thor Kristjansson.

The film is set to hit theaters on October 3, 2014.

Evans is best known for his roles as 'Zeus' in IMMORTALS and 'Apollo' in CLASH OF THE TITANS. He's also appeared in THE RAVEN, opposite John Cusack and THE THREE MUSKETEERS. He also appeared in the West End, performing in such shows as RENT and AVENUE Q. He can next be seen in FAST & THE FURIOUS 6, set to hit theaters on May 24.

Barks made her film debut as Éponine in the film version of the long-running musical LES MISERABLES. For the film, she received nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actress - Motion Picture, and Broadcast Film Critics Association Award for Best Acting Ensemble, and won the National Board of Review Award for Best Cast and Empire Award for Best Female Newcomer. She has also appeared onstage in the UK tours of Oliver!, Cabaret, and Les Miserables in the West End. Barks will next take the stage in Chicago at The Hollywood Bowl.
