CNN reports that a source close to the ongoing investigation into the death of Joan Rivers has revealed the name of the DOCTOR WHO performed a biopsy on the comedienne's vocal cords, which led to cardiac arrest.

According to the source, the physician has been identified by staff members at Manhattan's Yorkville Endoscopy clinic as Dr. Gwen Korovin. As BWW reported yesterday, a source claims that Korovin SNAPPED a selfie in the procedure room as Rivers was under anesthesia. The comedian was rushed to New York's Mt. Sinai Hospital but never recovered. She passed away last week at the age of 81.

The site reports that Korovin counts many A-list celebrities among her patients, including Hugh Jackman, Nathan Lane, Lady Gaga, Celine Dion and Ariana Grande. TMZ reported earlier today that Kristin Chenoweth, Julie Andrews and Brooke Shields have also been treated by the physician.

CNN has been unable to reach Korovin for comment, despite multiple attempts over the past few days.

Joan Rivers was long a fixture on the New York scene, with numerous standup appearances, benefit appearances, and a long association with the theatrical community. She was a constant presence at opening nights and special events, and never hesitated to express her love for theatre and live entertainment.

Her Broadway credits include Fun City, Broadway Bound and Sally Marr...and her escorts, for which she received a Drama Desk Nomination as Outstanding Actress in a Play and a Tony Nomination for Best Actress in a Play. The lights of Broadway were dimmed in her honor last week.
