The Hollywood Reporter writes that Tom Cruise is returning to his role as 'Jack Reacher' for another film in what could become a new movie franchise. This movie will be based on the novel NEVER GO BACK by Lee Child. Paramount and Skydance Productions will return to develop the film, which is on the hunt for a writer.

NEVER GO BACK, the latest of the 18-book series by writer Jim Grant (his pen name is Child), was just released in September. The novel follows Reacher as he escapes across the country after facing jail time on trumped up charges, meets a woman who claims he is the father of her child and more.

Christopher McQuarrie wrote and directed REACHER in 2012 but is now working on Mission: Impossible 5, with Cruise set to star.

Cruise's other upcoming projects include Edge of Tomorrow and Van Helsing. He has recently appeared in Oblivion, Rock of Ages, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Knight and Day, Valkyrie, Tropic Thunder, Mission: Impossible III, War of the Worlds and more.
