Spike Lee is in talks to direct the upcoming Neil Bogart biopic SPINNING GOLD, starring Grammy-winner Justin Timberlake as the 1970s record exec, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Foresight Unlimited has agreed to finance and produce the film, with a plan to meet with distributers at this year's Cannes Film Market. Bogart's son, Timothy Scott Bogart, is currently writing the script.

SPINNING GOLD is the "rags-to-riches story chronicling the tale of a poor kid from Brooklyn who went on to define the pop music culture of his time. In his day, Bogart, who died at the age of 39, was credited with discovering and launching the careers of a generation of superstars, including Curtis Mayfield, Bill Withers, Gladys Knight, KISS, Parliament, Donna Summer and the Village People."

Lee's OLDBOY is set to hit theaters on November 27. His other upcoming projects include Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth (for television), Da Blood of Jesus and Inside Man 2. The filmmaker has also directed Red Hook Summer, Malcolm X and many more shorts and documentary films.

Foresight is eyeing an early 2014 start date for the movie.
